Not Watching the Superbowl

February 4, 2007

I know it’s blasphemy to be an American and not watch the Superbowl…but I’m not watching. I watched last year, because I live in Western Pennsylvania and it was all about the Steelers…but I just don’t care this time around. The great thing about not watching is, everyone else is watching, so the world is yours for a couple of hours. You can get a table at your favorite restaurant without waiting. You can go to the supermarket and do all your shopping without fighting the crowd. You can drive all around town without hassling with traffic. Nobody calls on the phone or sends e-mail. All is quiet. All is at peace. Now if I can just avoid breaking my eyeglasses, I’ll have all the time in the world to catch up on my reading, and…d’oh!
