It just occurred to me today that every year is like a lifetime. You start the year hopeful and fresh, full of big ideas and ambitions. As the year rolls forward, unforeseen distractions and obstacles arise, but you still believe that you can muscle through and achieve your goals. Deeper into the year, however, problems and obligations drain your energy and limit your accomplishments. By the end of the year, many of your promises remain unfulfilled or forgotten. All you can do is try to get through the craziness and call it a wrap. The one good thing, though, which is where the year-life is superior to the full-life, is that after the end of the exercise, you get another chance.
