Drivin’ Fools

December 8, 2006

Today was one of those days when the fools all seem to decide to get on the road at once. This morning, on my way to work, I was stuck behind a Jeep SUV going no more than 20 miles an hour, and I couldn’t get around it. The driver kept looking over at his wife, chatting away, hardly even looking at the road…and then he whipped out the cell phone and dialed a friend! Completely oblivious. This evening, I found many more examples of drivin’ fools during a snowstorm. It seems like only two types of drivers take to the road during snow: those who drive one mile an hour, and those who drive sixty. The best by far was the guy who got impatient on the four-lane because the car ahead of me wouldn’t pass a plow…so he bolted into the turning lane, passed all three of us, and hurtled headlong into a whiteout at what must have been fifty miles an hour! Let’s have a round of applause for our drivin’ fools!
