I’ve got to get writing. That’s all there is to it. Other than a short comic book script in mid-January, I haven’t written any fresh fiction since before Christmas 2006. I’ve done puh-lenty of writing-related work, including revising a novel, writing novel proposals and queries, compiling agent and editor information, and mailing novel queries…and that’s all important. In fact, I’m actually on schedule according to my Big Plan for 2007. The Plan says, revise the novel in January, work to sell it in February, and start the next novel in March. Still…I’d hoped to squeeze in some short stories while revising and selling. In fact, I’ve had a few just burning to be set loose on paper. But I haven’t managed to crank the fiction. It’s true that I needed a little down time from composition at the start of the year…but now it’s go-time. It’s way past go-time. I can’t abandon the efforts to sell the novel, but I’ve got to just plant my butt in the chair and WRITE WRITE WRITE something new, or I’m gonna self-destruct!
